MUKILTEO, Wash. -- Classes will be canceled Monday at Columbia Elementary School after an arsonist set fire to two portable toilets, causing more than $100,000 in damages, fire officials estimate.

Flames spread to the eaves of the school nearby, destroying computer and electrical equipment.

Administrators say there isn't much damage to the inside of the school, though heavy smoke spread throughout the school's kitchen and gymnasium. Most of the damage was caused to phone and fiber lines that run into the building.

Units from several different fire departments responded to the school at 10520 Harbour Pointe Boulevard, including Snohomish County Fire District 1 and Everett and Lynnwood Fire Departments.

At least 28 firefighters responded to the incident. The Snohomish County fire investigator concluded the fire was arson.

Administrators say they will post additional information on the school's website. It is unclear if classes will be canceled Tuesday.
