Milwaukee football fans came out to celebrate a Tigers Homecoming in Week 7 of the 2016 season of Badger Max Thursday Night Lights presented by Northwest Surgery Center as Alexander Hamilton and Riverside University High School met to do battle on the gridiron on Thursday, September 29th. The night saw 1,252 fans come through the turnstiles -- a new record for the newly renovated, Historic South Stadium.
The buzz surrounding Riverside's Homecoming Festivities powered the energy level as members of the United States Army presented the Color Guard for the National Anthem, and the ceremonial game ball was delivered by members of the United States Marine Corps as the crowd honored all members of U.S. Military Branches. The local Salvation Army chapter was on site to collect food and monetary donations from the supportive fans, and faithful member of the Milwaukee West Church Community, Ann Jones, was honored on site and within the on air broadcast for her efforts and contributions to the mission of "Doing the Most Good" by volunteering to support community programs and helping lead the local praise and worship team.
The game turned out to be a night to remember for Riverside and one that is probably best served as a distant memory and learning opportunity for Hamilton. The Wildcats were subdued and left at the starting gate as they failed to gain much offensive traction all night. The Tigers hit the ground running and found the end zone green four times in the first half -- two quarterback keepers, as well as 9- and 43-yard efforts, to take a 27-0 lead into the half. Hamilton's comeback efforts were thwarted by three turnovers in the second half. The Wildcats finally found the promised land early in the fourth quarter as they connected on a 23-yard touchdown reception (2-PT attempt failed). They forced a safety late in the game, but the Tigers scored on three additional rushing touchdowns, which put the game well out of reach. The Wildcats may have lost this battle, but they choose to move on and prepare for the next game.
The Riverside Tigers dominate ahead of their Homecoming weekend and left victors in Week 7 of the 2016 season.
FINAL SCORE: Riverside University High School 49 - Alexander Hamilton 8
