Week 2 of the 2019 season of Heiser Automotive Group Thursday Night Lights saw a Greater Metro battle between the Germantown Warhawks and the Tosa West Trojans on Thursday, August 29th. The My24 Sports Team, all of our great sponsorship partners with a booth presence in the TNL Fan Experience Area, and fans of all ages came out ready for a great night of high school football in Wauwatosa.

Community members helped honor The Salvation Army and Wisconsin & Upper Michigan Divisional Secretary and Milwaukee County Coordinator Major Steve Woodard for their efforts in Doing the Most Good in the area's neighborhoods. All season long, The Salvation Army will continue the good fight against hunger. Fans can pledge donations of money and time as volunteers at SAMilwaukee.org or by bringing food items to games starting with week 3 at Carroll University. Fans can also text "TNL" to 41444 for the donation link. (Message and data rates apply)

The anticipation was high as members of the of the United States Marine Corps and Tosa West Trojan March Band took the field to present the Color Guard and perform the National Anthem.

Wauwatosa West kicked-off to Germantown and the game was underway. The teams traded punts in a quiet, scoreless first quarter. Late in the first the Warhawks were on the move, with Quarterback Ethan Sawyer picking up 13 yards on a keeper on 3rd & 6 to keep the drive alive. With the ball on the 6-yard-line, the Trojan defense stood its ground on a 3rd & 3 play from scrimmage, forcing a field goal attempt after a loss of 3. Connor Leffler connected on a 26-yard kick, putting Germantown up 3-0 early in the second quarter. After drives stalled for both teams in the second, the Warhawks blocked a Trojan punt attempt and recovered in their red zone. Penalties and a near interception on a 3rd & 7 pass attempt brought the field goal unit back on the field for Germantown. A low kick resulted in a block for Wauwatosa West, reclaiming the ball for the offense with just over two minutes to play in the half. The score would remain a three-point differential heading into halftime.

After entertaining performances by the dance squad and band during halftime, both teams continued to struggle to take the upper hand in the second half of play. The ground battles ensued in the trenches, and ill-timed penalties killed momentum. Germantown FB Mason Tait broke loose for a 46-yard pick-up late in the third quarter, taking the Warhawks to the red zone once again. The Trojans once again stopped the Warhawk offensive, leading to a missed 37-yard field goal attempt and turnover on downs. Wauwatosa West tried to capitalize with a drive of their own, but missed a 40-yard field goal attempt of their own with 8:00 left to play in the fourth quarter. Germantown ate up clock with a rumbling ground attack but their drive ended with a stop by Linebacker Alec White on 4th & 6 from the 15, giving the Trojans one last possession with 1:25 left in the game. Their hopes were dashed by a sack and interception by Safety Mason Durand with just under a minute on the clock, securing the victory for the Warhawks. FINAL: GERMANTOWN WARHAWKS 3 - WAUWATOSA WEST TROJANS 0

After the final whistle sounded, Sideline Reporter Mike McGivern gathered the victorious Warhawks for the presentation of the Player of the Game Award with the United States Marines to senior slash player Connor Leffler, who contributed on both sides of the ball, and kicked the winning field goal...
