Week eight of the 2018 season of Heiser Automotive Group Thursday Night Lights presented by U.S. Cellular showcased a Southeast Conference battle between the Mary D. Bradford Red Devils vs. the Indian Trail Hawks at Charles Jaskwhich Stadium on Thursday, October 4th. The My24 Sports Team, our sponsorship partners, and fans of all ages gathered for a brisk, chilly fall evening of high school football in Kenosha.
The Salvation Army and My24 Sports continued our season-long food drive campaign to combat local hunger with barrels to collect non-perishable food donations at the game. Fans are encouraged to bring donations to any TNL game this season. Whether or not you'll be in attendance at a Heiser Automotive Group Thursday Night Lights broadcast game this season, you can make monetary donations or learn more about volunteer opportunities by visiting SAMilwaukee.org, or by simply texting "TNL" to 41444 (Message & Data Rates may apply). Volunteer Fundraiser and PR Coordinator Dustin Beth was honored on site and within the on air broadcast for his ongoing efforts in spreading The Salvation Army's mission of "Doing the Most Good" throughout the region's communities.
The crowd took a moment to recognize and honor members of the United States Army who were in attendance and presented the Color Guard, Indian Trail Corral, Link Crew & Theater Department Senior Luke Cloherty performed a rousing rendition of the National Anthem, and the eight game of the season was ready to officially begin.
Bradford won the coin toss and opened the contest with an onside kick-off attempt, but Indian Trail's Special Teams Unit was able to keep possession of the ball. The first quarter was relatively quiet, with both teams struggling to get in rhythm offensively. Indian Trail fumbled twice in the first quarter, losing one to the Red Devils defense. Late in the second, the Hawks were closing in on the red zone, but a holding penalty and Red Devils sack on 3rd & 21 pushed them backwards and ended the half at a stalemate.
Bradford stalled in their first possession of the second half, but the Hawks tipped the game momentum in their favor with a 42 yd touchdown run on their first drive. Indian Trail's defense intercepted a Bradford pass with just over four minutes to play in the third quarter, but the Red Devils took it right back with a fumble recovery on the next play from scrimmage. Early in the fourth, Bradford would be called for a delay of game on a field goal attempt from Indian Trail's 26 yard-line, pushing them out of range and leading to a turnover on downs after a failed play attempt on 4th & 16.
Late in the fourth, an errant snap on a Red Devils punt attempt and 25 yd quarterback keeper would set up the Hawks in the red zone. Indian Trail connected on a 16 yd touchdown pass to take a 14 point lead, and would slam the door on Bradford's chances with a sack on 4th & 10 on their final drive. FINAL SCORE: Indian Trail Hawks 14 - Mary D. Bradford Red Devils 0
